Education Not Militarization: more info  This Project is focused on eliminating the military from the lives of youth in Chicago Public Schools.  CPS is the most militarized school system in the U.S. with over 8,000 middle and high school youth in some form of military training.  The message is that the primary purpose of the military is the infliction of violence and violence has no place in the lives of youth.  This Project has received support across the nation, including from the following peace leaders.

Very glad to learn about this outstanding initiative, and I wish you the greatest – well-deserved – success.”   Noam Chomsky

“Regarding any input I have about your work to demilitarize public education in Chicago, it has my wholehearted support. We should be teaching our children how to resolve conflicts in a peaceful and constructive way.”                                                                        Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Gumbleton
My Lai Memorial Exhibit: more info    The Exhibit was on tour across the U.S. in 2018 and 2019.  The intent was to educate the public on the brutality of war and to counteract the plutocracy’s attempt to rewrite the history of the U.S. war against the people of Viet Nam.  Currently the curator is updating the Exhibit web site to include all of the reflections of the many visitors to the Exhibit. The Exhibit will then seek a permanent home in an appropriate location.

Scholarship: The Chapter raises money for students in the Chicago area who are focused on humanitarian needs. Please contact us for more information.

Video:  Voices for peace, especially from veterans, are rare in our militarized, aggressive culture. The Chapter is developing videos of our members. The following is from our national office. more info
